Orientation

It's been a busy week!!!

I started in a cabin with some amazing people, 5 were here last year so have been sharing amazing advice, and stories to get us excited.

I then made friends with a girl from Mexico, two from England and one from Scotland.

We've all gotten on so well and had many laughs.

We've had many talks and discussions about how Camp works, my role as a camp counsellor. We've heard many stories from the returners and staff about the kids. As well as get to know activities within the camp and lower camp counsellors.

We've also had evening activities where we go swimming, gocarts, play football, karaoke, round robin (we got very wet as it turned into a water fight) and an ice cream social.

My unit leader then started getting us practising how to look after the kids and how to get them ready for activities and taking them to the activities. We've gotten to act as the children and their common traits as well as how to deal with them as the counsellors. It was a great exercise to work in groups and everyone's strengths.

We also had a day off where we went into the local town of Honesdale and went shopping and drank iced coffee/ chocolate. It was a long day and super tiring but my first ever girls shopping trip with most of the girls that are workingas lower camp counsellors this summer. We then stopped for pizzas, which we shared and were huge! But very good. We then spent the night at the staff lounge patio laughing and getting to know each other.

We've been anxiously and excitedly waiting to find out who our co-counsellors are and what type of kids we will be working with. We finally found out today, 2 days before the kids arrive, I'm working with boys that have primarily Autism and have another co-counsellors called Molly and two males. I'm very excited and happy with this. My unit manager gave me some amazing feedback about how impressed he has been with me throughout my time at camp and how close me and Molly have become so he wanted us to work together which is super fun.

Can't wait for the kids to arrive and the rest of camp

(I hope the hot summer weather starts soon!!)
