7th September. We finally made it to our hostel at 5am after getting diverted to Rhode Island.
We went straight to bed but got up at around 12pm to go out and see Boston.
We caught the train into the main part of the city and decided to just do some walking and exploring. We saw many statues and I compared Boston to be very European with some very old buildings. The parks and statues were quite beautiful and it was nice to just walk the streets.
We ended up watching a beautiful sunset as it was just peaking through the clouds and then had a home/ hostel cooked meal of Spaghetti bolognase and brookies. Cary's and I love brookies after first discovering them in Universal Studios back in 2023.
8th of September:
We got up early this morning to join a tour of MIT and Harvard. We were the youngest people on the tour that consisted of about 5 people. But it was very interesting. We got to walk in MIT learn a bit about the history, recent research programs they have been working on as well as hacks MIT do also known as pranks. I could learn a few things for camp next year....
Harvard was a lot more serious and we didn't get to see in the buildings as much but there was a lot of history to learn and it was great to say "I've been to Harvard!"
During the tour we spoke to a women from London who ahd been upto Salem the previous day. I was very interested as I have seen Hocus Pocus and that was filmed there and references the location.
So I of course begged Carys to take us up to Salem for a tour. We got to hear ghost stories. See two filming locations. Walk into many cool shops and see the bewitched Statue.
Salem bas so much history as it was great to hear some it.
We got back late for a stir fry dinner and straight to bed.
9th- Late morning wake up to get a bus back to New York. It was a long bus but we made it! We then immediately checked in and headed to Crumbl cookie, I very popular new york style cookie bakery. We enjoyed 3.5 as I dropped my half of the chocolate chip on the floor.... Classic Mollie. The brownie batter one was definitely the best!
After that we went to Bryant Park and met up with our friends Esme, Caleb and Genevieve from camp. It was nice to hear about their travels as Esme and Caleb has managed to go to Texas after New Orleans and they saw a rodeo and bull parade. We then walked around the city with them and then Carys and I took Esme to Brooklyn Bridge for a fun last walk. We got an ice cream and enjoyed the moon and evening lights.
We then headed back to the hostel. I caught up with mum and dad as the time difference always makes it hard to call but lucky for me they're both sick at home (not so lucky for them....). Whilst on the call with them I ended up seeing one of the guys we had made friends with during our stay in Memphis, it was great to hear where he had been and what he'd been up to.
